Letter As Object: A Salon with Sasha Prood

Sasha Prood, a Brooklyn-based illustrator and graphic designer, who creates gorgeous handlettered alphabets spoke at the Type Directors Club last night.

I was very impressed with how she approached the challenges of freelancing on an international level working with an amazing list of clients. She took us on a journey from ideation and sketching all the way through to final output in a wide variety of international situations.

Sasha is an alumni of institutions including Carnegie Mellon's School of Design, Cooper Union, and The School of Visual Arts. See more of Sasha's work at http://www.sashaprood.com/.

This salon was very educational for me since I've been working with hand-lettering since high school. Here's my first one, my friends' band circa 1987.

The salon was part of The Type Directors Club's fantastic calendar of events. Check them out at https://www.tdc.org/ and https://www.facebook.com/TypeDirectorsClub/.
