McFate Incorporated Branding Expands
I recently posted about the creation of a new company, McFate Incorporated, by a good friend and former colleague, Dave McFate. Dave is a Category III Vibrating-Machine Specialist who assists people that operate and maintain very large rotating machines like generators and turbines.
He asked me to create a graphic identity for him and I wanted to create something that reflected Dave's personality (see 'McFate Incorporated Logo').
The vibrating-machine community is governed by The Vibration Institute which has an international annual conference every Summer, this year it is in Rochester, NY. To announce his entry into the consulting field, Dave bought a full-page, 4-color ad in the conference program, which the publishers graciously placed in a very advantageous position for us.
Immediately an idea came to Dave's mind about utilizing a quote by Mark Twain, one of his favorite authors. The quote worked as an attention getter as well as a subtle message about the situation he faces with large corporate entities.
So we contacted nationally-recognized portraitist and Twain historian, Susan Boone Durkee, to ask for permission to use her painting 'Mark Twain at Stormfield' which she enthusiastically agreed to. (It is so refreshing to work with fine art in an advert vs. the technical equipment I generally get to use.)
We intend to do many more of these fun little ads : )
